1. Who we are
Flock (flocktravel.app) is a group trip planning tool that helps friends and colleagues find fair travel destinations based on everyone's home airport, budget, and preferences. You can reach us at info@flocktravel.app.
2. Information we collect
We collect only the information needed to provide the service:
- Trip data — trip name, travel dates, trip type (e.g. golf, ski), and a 6-character trip code.
- Member information — your name, home airport code, and travel preferences you enter when joining a trip.
- Account information — if you sign in, we receive your email address and name from our authentication provider (Clerk). Sign-in is optional.
- Usage data — standard server logs including IP address, browser type, and pages visited, retained for up to 30 days.
We do not collect payment information, government IDs, or precise location data.
3. How we use your information
- To rank and display destination recommendations for your group.
- To let trip members join, vote, and view results using a shared trip code.
- To sync your trips across devices when you are signed in.
- To improve the accuracy of our flight-cost and travel-time estimates.
- To respond to support requests sent to our email.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
4. Affiliate links & advertising disclosure
Flock participates in affiliate marketing programs, including the AWIN affiliate network, through which we may earn a commission when you click a link to a partner (such as Booking.com or GetYourGuide) and complete a qualifying purchase. These links are clearly labeled (e.g. "Find Hotels", "Activities & Tours") and are placed to help you book travel relevant to your trip.
Affiliate commissions do not affect our destination rankings — results are scored purely on travel fairness, flight cost, and group preferences. We only link to booking partners that are directly relevant to your destination.
When you click an affiliate link, the partner's own privacy policy and terms apply to any booking you make on their site.
5. Cookies & local storage
We use:
- Session cookies — set by Clerk to keep you signed in. These are strictly necessary and cannot be disabled while you are signed in.
- Browser local storage — used to remember your trips on your device without requiring sign-in. This data stays on your device and is not transmitted to our servers unless you choose to sync.
We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking cookies.
6. Third-party services
Flock uses the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:
- Clerk (clerk.com) — user authentication and account management.
- Vercel (vercel.com) — hosting and infrastructure.
- AWIN (awin.com) — affiliate network for tracking partner link clicks.
7. Data retention & deletion
Trip data is retained as long as the trip exists. You can delete your own member record at any time by contacting us at info@flocktravel.app. Trip organizers can delete a trip entirely. Signed-in users can delete their account via their profile settings, which removes associated synced data.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you, or to object to certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, email us at info@flocktravel.app. We will respond within 30 days.
9. Children's privacy
Flock is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us so we can delete it.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be noted with a new "Last updated" date at the top. Continued use of Flock after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
